An ancient parchment has been unearthed, revealing a fascinating tale from Jesus Christ’s youth that seems to have been omitted from subsequent versions of the Bible.

In an era where Taylor Swift is known for dropping previously unreleased tracks and posthumous albums emerge online, not to mention ABBA’s holograms recreating their gigs from decades past, no one anticipated the discovery of a new miracle attributed to Jesus.

Donald Trump’s presidency delivered to Christian conservatives some of their most coveted goals: Hundreds of sympathetic judges joined the federal bench. The U.S. Embassy in Israel moved to Jerusalem. And the center of gravity on the Supreme Court shifted firmly to the right.

Since Trump lost his reelection bid, they have claimed additional successes, with Republican-run red states enacting legislation that restricts transgender care and limits the books that can be taught in school or borrowed from the library. The Supreme Court in 2022 ended the legal right to abortion. Last year, Sen. Mike Johnson (R-La.), an evangelical Christian who has said his worldview is the Bible, became speaker of the House.

But far from declaring victory, those who advocate for a more pronounced role for hard-line conservative Christian doctrine in American public life are actively planning to enact a fresh wave of changes in a second Trump term. Should Trump reclaim the presidency in November, they say, it would represent a historic opportunity to put their interpretation of Christianity at the center of government policy.

WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and his wife were captured in secret recordings that featured the justice discussing the country’s left-right divide, while Martha-Ann Alito implied she would take revenge on media outlets that reported on controversial flags flown at Alito family homes.

“Look at me, look at me,” Martha-Ann Alito said. “I’m German, from Germany. My heritage is German. You come after me, I’m going to give it back to you.”

The recordings were made at a June 3 gala for the Supreme Court Historical Society by liberal activist Lauren Windsor and released Monday night.

When former President Donald J. Trump was convicted in his New York criminal trial, it took Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois about 19 minutes to fire off a statement calling him a felon, a racist, a homophobe and a grifter.

Only one other Democratic governor issued a statement that night about Mr. Trump’s conviction, and the Biden campaign’s response — which came one minute after Mr. Pritzker’s — focused on what Mr. Trump would do as president rather than on the verdict.

Since then, as the Democratic Party and the Biden campaign have wrestled with how to wield the conviction to their advantage, Mr. Pritzker has emerged as the chief amplifier of Mr. Trump’s felon status.

Unlike other top surrogates who have followed Mr. Biden’s lead and kept the focus on Mr. Trump’s policies rather than his conviction, Mr. Pritzker has blazed his own trail of Trump insults — to great cheers from fellow Democrats who are hungry to attack.

On the day convicted felon Donald Trump made his triumphal (?) return to the US Capitol, which is still standing although his thugs ransacked it on January 6, CNN published a great story about all the terrible things Ohio Senator J.D. Vance said and promoted about Trump on social media and elsewhere before (and shortly after) Trump was elected. Vance, you might have heard, is reportedly on the short list to be Trump’s vice president.

OK, I know: These people can’t be shamed (e.g., Senators Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham; the list goes on). As long as you ultimately kiss the ring, you get total absolution in Trump world.

A long-standing, unwritten rule that evolved to avoid clogging up the criminal justice system could now work to sentence newly convicted felon Donald Trump to prison when he appears before a New York City judge next month.

The former president, legal experts say, has put himself on the wrong side of a process that rewards those who do not force the state to expend the time and money for a jury trial — and punishes those who do. Any normal defendant who pleaded not guilty and then lost their trial, these experts note, would likely see the harsher end of the sentencing range.

“If you spare the government the expenditure of resources and accept responsibility and plead guilty early in the process, you get some credit for that,” said Rebecca Roiphe, a former state prosecutor in Manhattan and now a professor at New York University School of Law. “Trump obviously didn’t do that.”

Trump also spent the entirety of the trial, from jury selection through his verdict and beyond, personally attacking the judge, the district attorney, the witnesses against him and the legitimacy of the entire nation’s justice system — something the vast majority of criminal defendants avoid doing.

When former President Donald Trump agreed to address a conference hosted by an organization that opposes abortion in all circumstances, President Joe Biden’s campaign cited the appearance as evidence of Trump’s extremism on the issue. But in his brief recorded remarks at the Danbury Institute’s Life & Liberty Forum in Indianapolis on Monday, Trump did not explicitly mention abortion at all, although he paid lip service to the value of “innocent life.”

That episode reflects the dilemma Trump faces as he tries to retain the support of pro-life activists without alienating voters who reject the hardline position of groups like the Danbury Institute. Trump has staked out a mushy middle ground that is more consistent with public opinion, even as he brags about his role in overturning Roe v. Wade and describes himself as “the most pro-life president in American history.”

Chicago, IL – Kelli Stump, President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), responded to today’s Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) ruling in Campos-Chaves v. Garland. The ruling today holds that someone can be removed in absentia, despite being initially served with a defective Notice to Appear (NTA) that does not provide them the date and time of their hearing.

“In 2018, in an 8-1 decision Justice Sonia Sotomayor stated that a NTA that does not inform a migrant ‘when and where to appear for removal proceedings is not a notice to appear.’ Five years later, in a 5-4 decision the Court has undermined this legal requirement. Rather than an independent immigration court holding the government to this basic responsibility, in our upside-down system, the judges are performing it for them. In no other court in America would we tolerate a judge acting as a prosecutor. This is yet another example of why we so desperately need an independent immigration court in order to have any chance of fairness and justice.”

But during the April school holidays, an unknown school parent reported to the principal that Charlotte was in a same-sex relationship. The parent said they had discovered her sexuality in a Facebook post. “I got a text message from the principal saying: ‘Sorry to intrude in your non-term time. But I’ve sent you a very important email and I need you to address it immediately’,” Charlotte said.

Charlotte* was sacked by a Christian private school after her same-sex relationship was discovered by a parent. Nick Moir

Charlotte had kept her relationship secret from the school since she started seeing her girlfriend in January this year. The couple never held hands in public, lest a parent or student see them. She was not friends with any parents on Facebook, so she still doesn’t know how a parent saw when she changed her social media relationship status. All she knows is that it ended her career at the school.

To the Editor:
I read last week’s editorial about the Berne-Knox-Westerlo school budget revote with great disappointment and some surprise [“Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board is taking a ‘helluva gamble’,” June 6, 2024].

In the editorial, you indicate that there has not been an organized anti-budget  movement in the Hilltowns. The fact of the matter is every school budget is met with displeasure by a group of anti-tax, anti-public school individuals who take to Facebook to spread misinformation and fear about the proposed spending plan, regardless of what it includes.

We have a large contingency of homeschoolers in this district who are vocal about their objections to public schools and, while they have the right to educate their children however they see fit, they do not have the right to dismantle school budgets and decimate programming for the other children in our community.

We know that “privately, Trump has told allies that he is keenly interested in cutting corporate tax rates again,” according to The Washington Post, even as corporate profits hit near record highs in 2023. The Post also reported that “Trump’s advisers…have discussed proposals to make deeper cuts to the overall corporate tax rate, potentially to as low as 15 percent.” As antitax advocate Grover Norquist told The Post, “‘I would be very surprised’ if he abandoned the push for lower corporate taxes…‘All the people advising him before for sure think the 15 percent is where we need to go.’”

Corporations do not make their tax returns public so we cannot know the precise size of each corporations’ tax cut from a 15 percent corporate tax rate. Financial filings, however, provide some clue about which corporations pay the most in U.S. corporate taxes and would benefit the most from the lower tax rate.

What’s the point of owning the Washington Post if it’s no longer the Washington Post? By that, I mean the iconic US newspaper whose storied reputation is based on holding powerful people and institutions accountable, all for the sake of democracy? The paper that broke the Watergate story, thus helping to unseat a corrupt president, and that, following the New York Times, riskily published the Pentagon Papers?

When Jeff Bezos bought the Post in 2013, it was struggling financially, and its future was uncertain. The billionaire’s ownership not only restored the paper to profitability for several years, but allowed it to regain its prominence. While setting an ambitious tone for technical transformation, he properly kept his hands off the journalism, letting legendary editor Marty Baron do his job.

A former Washington Post reporter revealed that he passed on writing a story about the upside-down U.S. flag hanging outside of Justice Samuel Alito’s home in 2021 and said he had never heard that the symbol was associated with the so-called “Stop the Steal” movement.

Speaking to Post columnist Erik Wemple, retired WaPo Supreme Court reporter Robert Barnes said he got an anonymous tip about the flag, saw the flag flying at the Alitos’ home on Jan. 6, 2021, and spoke with the Alitos about why it was upside down. He explained why he ultimately chose not to report on it.

“We determined that it wasn’t the justice that flew the flag upside down and we determined it wasn’t a protest about the election or something else on the part of Mrs. Alito,” Barnes told Wemple. Barnes said he made the determination based on Martha-Ann Alito’s “actions when I saw her and what others in the neighborhood had told me.”

Media Bias on Full Display After Hunter’s Conviction

The mainstream media is in full defensive mode after Hunter Biden’s conviction on federal gun charges; portraying Joe Biden as a sympathetic father figure, while downplaying or outright ignoring Biden’s support for more gun control and his failure to mention the conviction when he addressed Everytown for Gun Safety just hours after the verdict was delivered.

The Hunter Biden federal gun trial has concluded with a guilty verdict and has now shifted to the sentencing phase. The Regime Media is making sure to lay down narrative groundwork ahead of the sentencing hearing. To that end, CNN has found Hunter’s “spiritual advisor”.

Donald Trump, recently convicted on 34 felony charges related to falsifying business records, admitted to New York officials that he had not surrendered a gun he possesses in Florida but that was registered in New York, according to CNN. It is a federal crime for someone convicted of a felony to possess a firearm or ammunition.

An official who was briefed on the pre-sentencing meeting told CNN that Trump admitted to still possessing one of the three fireams listed on his New York City permit to carry concealed weapons. Two of the three pistols he was licensed to carry were handed over to police in March 2023, after his gun license was suspended in light of his arrest by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office. The third gun was “lawfully moved to Florida,” presumably to his estate at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, where Trump was for the remotely-conducted hearing.

Palm Beach police told CNN that they were not told of any gun that Trump might have, and none were turned over to them since his conviction in May. The New York City Police Department has now notified police in Florida and asked them to take appropriate action.

Inflation slowed in May more than anyone was predicting. The markets soared in response to this latest round of good news, which comes just days after a “blowout” employment report showed broad-based gains in all areas of the job market.

In January, Donald Trump told conservative radio host Lou Dobbs that he was pulling for the economy to crash in 2024. Trump described the economy as “fragile,” said that the nation was about to “hit a wall,” and worried that he’d be left looking like Herbert Hoover if the stock market didn’t crash before the election.

That wasn’t the first time Trump predicted an economic crash. In the 2020 election, Trump centered the potential of a stock market crash if Joe Biden was elected in his campaign speech. He also predicted that Biden would bring on an economic depression, and he’s been making more predictions of doom ever since.

Stanford University infectious disease doctor Abraar Karan has seen a lot of patients with runny noses, fevers, and irritated eyes lately. Such symptoms could signal allergies, covid, or a cold. This year, there’s another suspect, bird flu — but there’s no way for most doctors to know.

If the government doesn’t prepare to ramp up H5N1 bird flu testing, he and other researchers warn, the United States could be caught off guard again by a pandemic.

“We’re making the same mistakes today that we made with covid,” Deborah Birx, who served as former President Donald Trump’s coronavirus response coordinator, said June 4 on CNN.

President Biden promised to put the full weight of the federal government behind getting the Port of Baltimore reopened after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed, and just 11 weeks later, the port is fully reopened.

The President responded to the news that the port is fully reopened in a statement:

I made clear that my Administration would move heaven and earth to reopen the Port of Baltimore – one of our nation’s largest shipping hubs. Today, thanks to the tireless work by the men and women in the Unified Command, the full navigation channel is now open to all vessel traffic, allowing a full return of commerce to the Port of Baltimore.

Within minutes of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, the U.S. Coast Guard arrived on the scene. They established a Unified Command the same day to support rescue and recovery operations, and worked with the Army Corps of Engineers around the clock to remove the wreckage from the channel. My Departments of Transportation and Labor and the Small Business Administration worked hand-in-hand with federal and state partners to limit supply chain impacts and keep costs down for Americans, and to support impacted workers and small businesses. I want to thank Governor Moore for his steadfast leadership, Mayor Scott, County Executive Olszewski, and the Maryland congressional delegation. The partnership between federal, state, and local governments, labor leaders like the longshoremen who keep this hub running, and the business community shows what we can get done when we work together.

Global warming is an omnipresent issue, with widespread initiatives to draw down emissions and mitigate against the International Panel on Climate Change’s worse-case scenario predictions of 3.2°C of warming by 2100 (relative to pre-Industrial levels). Current measurements stand at 1.1°C of warming across Earth, but polar regions are experiencing enhanced surface warming compared to the rest of the planet.

Quantifying this amplification of warming in the Arctic (>65°N) compared to global means, and the mechanisms behind this, is the subject of new research published in Nature Geoscience.

Dr. Wenyu Zhou, of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, U.S., and colleagues investigated previous reports of Arctic amplification factors of two to four since 1979, and determined a factor of three to be more likely based upon Earth’s natural variability modulating temperature change.

While some Wall Street billionaires are openly supporting Donald Trump’s bid to return to the White House, most top executives at publicly traded companies are a different story, according to Pangaea Policy founder Terry Haines.

The former president’s conviction on 34 felony counts by a New York jury will lead to a “measurable but small drip, drip, drip away from Trump” among the overall electorate, he told Bloomberg TV on Friday after telling clients in note that it will also make attracting serious financial and political backing on Wall Street harder.

That’s despite billionaires like Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman and Miriam Adelson supporting Trump, with and Pershing Square CEO Bill Ackman slamming the hush-money trial and reportedly leaning toward endorsing Trump too.
